I would like to nominate Jesse for the DAISY Award for the extraordinary compassion and humanity he showed to my father and our family during one of the most difficult moments of our lives. My dad is currently facing end-stage COPD and severe pulmonary hypertension. As a family, we have been navigating the emotional weight of his decision to approach the end of his life with dignity and peace. Throughout this deeply painful time, Jesse was a steady source of comfort, respect, and genuine kindness. He cared for my dad in a way that went far beyond clinical skill. Jesse took the time to understand who my dad is as a person, not just a patient. He spoke to him with warmth, listened without judgment, and treated him with the dignity he deserves. Even on the hardest days, Jesse made sure my dad felt seen, heard, and valued. For our family, Jesse became a grounding presence. He explained things with patience, offered reassurance when we felt overwhelmed, and created an environment where we felt safe to ask questions and express our fears. His compassion helped ease the emotional burden we were carrying, and his gentle approach brought comfort to my dad in moments when comfort felt impossible.
