She embodies the calm confidence, respectfulness, kindness, intelligence, compassion, and grace that anyone would hope to encounter in a healthcare situation.
Kerry is an angel in human form. She was an amazing nurse to our mom, and she was a tremendous asset in her care. Kerry took the time to educate us about what to expect, how to prevent common situations, and not only addressed mom’s care but the care of our family as well.
Kerry was incredibly compassionate toward Mom. She was so tender and attentive. She assessed mom, talked with us, made sure we had everything we needed, and reassured us. We felt so incredibly supported.
While the care for our mom was of the utmost importance to us, she reminded us that we needed to take care of ourselves in order to be able to attend to Mom. It was not something that we were even thinking about. She encouraged us, educated us about what to expect, and made sure we were empowered and confident to care for mom in a way that ensured she was comfortable as she transitioned.
The next weekend, Mom passed away in the early hours of the morning. When we called her, she was calm and reassuring. She assured us she was on her way. She showed up, took charge of the situation with quiet, respectful grace, and lent us a sense of peace. She carefully bathed mom, changed her clothes, and called the funeral home when we were ready. She took the time to talk to us and to reassure us. She knew the perfect words to say to comfort us and gave us reassurance that we did a good job caring for mom. The words that she said will stay with us forever.
Kerry is a huge asset to the Hospice team and to the Phelps Heath system as a whole. She embodies the calm confidence, respectfulness, kindness, intelligence, compassion, and grace that anyone would hope to encounter in a healthcare situation. She was a huge blessing to our family, and because of her, we will always think of mom’s last days as positive, despite the heartbreak we were experiencing.
We are so grateful for Kerry. She made a huge impact on us and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
