I have a nurse on my unit I would like to nominate for the DAISY Award. While visiting one of our patients who was sharing his current level of anxiety, he noted that the one person who was helpful was his nurse. He was effusive with his gratitude, noting that the ways this nurse communicated his medical needs and procedures, acknowledging him as a human being, and bringing peace and calm, were something very important and helpful. This nurse has a heart for their work and demonstrates the kind of love and compassion each human being deserves. Even more, this was the same narrative I heard from this nurse’s other patients and family members. Thank you for your consideration of this nurse for this award, and regardless, it is an honor to work with this nurse.
