Cheryl and the Dixon Ward team have had a particularly difficult year with some very complex young patients. Cheryl went above and beyond for two young people who were on the ward at separate times for many months, every day.
She would stay on the ward late into the evening and come in at weekends to ensure that the patients had the nutrition and the care that they needed. Cheryl worked closely with safeguarding and the whole MDT to create appropriate care plans and ensured that the voice of the patient and their family was heard. Cheryl was always on hand to support her team, giving advice on how to manage situations that were often beyond their experience.
Following the safe discharges of these patients, Cheryl then ensured that the team had the opportunity to debrief through Occupational Health and the Safeguarding team. Without a doubt, Cheryl always demonstrates the trust values to a high standard and encourages and enables her team to do the same by giving them opportunities to develop and gain knowledge and experience.
This is just one example of how Cheryl ensures that outstanding care is personally delivered on the Dixon Ward.
