Through this long and difficult journey, we have met many nurses, but never have we met a nurse as dedicated, compassionate, and extraordinary as this nurse.
Our story with this nurse is different. My son was diagnosed with leukemia two years ago, and since then we have been in and out of hospitals in Qatar, Jordan, and China. Through this long and difficult journey, we have met many nurses, but never have we met a nurse as dedicated, compassionate, and extraordinary as this nurse.
From the very beginning, he cared for my son as if he was his own child. He handled every detail of his care with remarkable attention and tenderness. He bathed him, changed him with gentleness, managed every aspect of his intubation with precision, repositioned him carefully to ensure his comfort, and gave him his medications on time.
What touched us deeply was not only the way he cared for my son, but also the way he cared for us as parents. In the middle of the unit and the overwhelming environment, he would gently remind his father and me to take breaks, eat, and take care of ourselves, because he knew we could only be strong for Shakeeb if we looked after ourselves. This simple act of kindness showed us that his compassion extended beyond his patient; it extended to the entire family.
The nurse’s extraordinary commitment, humanity, and dedication brought us comfort during one of the hardest chapters of our lives. He symbolizes the true spirit of nursing, not just through skill and professionalism, but through love, empathy, and unwavering responsibility. For these reasons, we truly want to thank the nurse from the bottom of our hearts. We hope that all nurses can follow his example and show the same dedication, compassion, and humanity. To us, he was not only a nurse, but an angel who brought light and comfort during our darkest time.
