Fara, from day one, treated me like family. She is very kind, empathetic, and personable.
I met Fara 19 years ago when I was pregnant with my second child. I was so scared at the time of being in a new facility and 8 months pregnant.

I had left Emory due to my doctor's retirement, and I knew those nurses so well. Fara was the first person I met at Northside Forsyth. Who would have known that she would still be my nurse almost two decades later? Fara, from day one, treated me like family. She is very kind, empathetic, and personable.

For over 19 years, she has been like family to me. Even when her mother was dying, she treated me the same. I know that was a stressful time for her, but she acted like nothing was happening, and we would talk about our girls. We have moved wings 4 times since I met her. When I find out she is my nurse, you can ask anyone in the wing. I get excited. I am so happy because she is like family. Fara even jokes with me when my health is tanking. I am a forever patient until I die. It's a comfort to have a nurse like Fara. I know I will be treated nicely, and she would never say or do anything to hurt me. There have been so many close calls with me dying, and to know Fara is still there is comforting. She talks about anything but dying with me. She is my cheerleader when times are hard. She is never negative in the two decades I have known her.

I tested negative, but started coughing towards the end of my treatment. Fara was so sweet. I freaked out that there was no way I was going to survive if I had it. She was like, " Get tested and go to the ER." So after my treatment, I got tested again (I had just been tested a day or two prior, as I had surgery), and I was positive. Fara was just a rock for me. She would keep saying, " You won’t die." I was terrified I couldn’t fight everything at once. Fara wasn’t even afraid of me, either, when she said she thought I was starting a COVID cough. I was like, how aren’t you afraid of me? I was afraid to give it to her and my family. I was so ill, fighting tuberculosis of the muscles and bones. Yes, 1 in 5 ever recorded on top of my other illnesses. It’s a comfort to have a nurse like Fara. She is a nurse you can’t afford to lose.
