I have always said God brings certain people into our lives, and that is what happened with Maggie and me. I was hospitalized and diagnosed with something that made my entire world spin and forever change.
When I met Maggie, I could tell early on that she was someone special. Her kind heart and gentle bedside manners were so appreciated. I felt as though she was taking care of me as if I were her immediate family. She always had time for me. On my second day, I had an episode of confusion. Not knowing what was happening, Maggie never missed a beat and found a colleague to assist her and ask me questions.
I was there in body but not mind. They immediately went into action. When I came back to my room, I found Maggie’s shift was over, and she had gone home. I was devastated. I did not have a chance to properly thank her for the care, kindness, and concern she afforded me in my stay. You cannot believe my happiness when I looked at the whiteboard in my room and saw the following written on it…” BEST WISHES – MAGGIE.”
Before she left, she took the time to write that to me. No one does that these days unless they are an angel. That message stayed on the board until the day I left, and every day helped me to get better. That message is on my phone and will always be there! I suspect Maggie has touched others the same way. I do not know how there could be anyone more deserving.
Best wishes, Maggie, from a dear friend.
