Dawn is an asset to the ICU. Dawn has gone above and beyond every time she is at work by lending her knowledge to everyone around her. She has never declined to help anyone out, despite being overwhelmed with her own assignment. She is a great resource for everyone, but especially for new nurses like me. It is reassuring to work with someone who is always pleasant and positive and always ready to help. 

There have been numerous times she has gone above and beyond. I recall one time, she was a pod partner with me on the shift. I have a patient who is an extremely hard stick, and I reached out to her for help. Despite her busy assignment, she quickly agrees to help without question. That night was extremely busy with her patient being high acuity. Dawn has expressed many times that she needed to use the bathroom, but decided to help ensure the patient had access before her own needs. There are countless scenarios that I could mention, but over and over again, she puts everyone else's needs first before herself. 

Dawn has demonstrated excellence above what is normally expected of her by being a good leader. She always checks in and ensures everyone is all set for the night; if anything needs to be addressed, she would bring it up. Anytime we have trouble communicating with a provider, Dawn is always a good resource to ensure patient care is not delayed. During our non-busy hours, she would make rounds and check on inventories to ensure we have everything we need for emergency purposes. 

Dawn is a wonderful charge nurse. When she is in charge, she ensures every staff member is checked on and ensures no one is overwhelmed alone. Her leadership sets an example for people like me to look up to and want to be like her when I take on the charge nurse role in the future. She sets a good example of how to be a good leader.
