We were always thankful to see Chad.
My husband was in the hospital for eleven days with uncontrolled pain and numerous multi-symptom problems. He was transported from third floor to 5N where he could be monitored and observed more closely.
From the moment we met Chad, he exhibited the knowledge and competence to provide the care needed. He was professional in every encounter with us, but with a genuine sense of concern. He was proactive in troubleshooting potential problems (pain management, difficulty with moving, safety issues, etc.).
Chad never hesitated to do tasks that were otherwise delegated to the NAs (ambulating to the bathroom, getting supplies as requested, adding a foot extension for comfort). He consistently asked if there was anything we needed and reassured us we would stay on top of my husband’s pain crisis. We were always thankful to see Chad.
This was a challenging case, but Chad politely answered questions and never seemed impatient with us. He reviewed lab results, allowing us to research and ask questions. He never hesitated to contact the doctor when there was a need. As a nurse myself, I know the importance of being competent, knowledgeable, professional, and compassionate. Chad represents all of these.
We joked with him and said, "Chad, the hospital needs to film you interacting with your patients and use this as a training tool.” We are grateful for his care and wish him the best in his career endeavors.
