Arrie is the kind of nurse who transforms a life experience, and I will carry her impact with me forever.
I am nominating my labor and delivery nurse, Arrie, for the DAISY Award. This was my first pregnancy and delivery, and I came into it anxious, vulnerable, and unsure of myself.
From the moment she entered my room, Arrie's warmth and confidence put me at ease. She explained every step, every medication, and every choice, and when I couldn't decide what I needed, she offered gentle next steps that helped me move forward without fear.
When labor suddenly accelerated, and pain medication was no longer an option, Arrie never doubted me or minimized what I was feeling. She believed my pain, stood firmly by my side, and coached me through each contraction with strength and encouragement. Even in my most difficult moments, when I was sick, scared, and exposed, she helped me maintain my dignity.
Arrie also cared for my husband, making sure he felt included and informed, which meant the world to both of us.
She made me feel like the only patient in her care, though I know she was balancing many demands. Because of her grace, empathy, and unwavering support, I was able to deliver my son not in fear, but in confidence. I have never felt safer, more believed, or cared for.
