She showed genuine care and concern, not only for me but also for my wife.
In August of 2025, I was admitted to the hospital for a stroke. The care I received during my initial treatment was excellent. However, once I was stabilized, it seemed as though there was little follow-up, and I felt the staff were preparing to discharge me despite my blood pressure remaining consistently around 110 diastolic. I was given no specific aftercare instructions other than, “Contact your primary.”
The day prior to discharge, I had not been given my medications because they considered me discharged, which caused my blood pressure to spike. This is when the nurse stepped in. She listened carefully to my concerns and understood that my high blood pressure was due to the missed medication. She immediately acted—getting my medications administered, arranging for a doctor to see me right away, and staying with me until all my concerns were addressed.
She showed genuine care and concern, not only for me but also for my wife. She went above and beyond basic nursing duties to ensure I was safe, informed, and comforted. Her dedication made a difficult situation much easier to bear. If there were more nurses like her—willing to take the time to truly care for their patients rather than simply checking boxes—the patient experience would be greatly improved.
