From the moment she entered the room, she brought calm, warmth, and reassurance.
I am nominating Chelsea for the DAISY Award because her compassion, patience, and dedication transformed one of the most difficult experiences of my life into something manageable, hopeful, and humane. Chelsea is not just an excellent nurse—she is a truly extraordinary human being. From the moment she entered the room, she brought calm, warmth, and reassurance. She treated my wife and me with genuine kindness, listening carefully to our concerns, never rushing us, and always making sure we understood what was happening. In a situation that was filled with fear, uncertainty, and physical and emotional pain, Chelsea became a steady source of comfort. What stood out most was the way she cared, not just that she cared. She spoke to my wife with dignity and respect, even in her most vulnerable moments. She encouraged her, advocated for her, checked on her frequently, and made sure she was safe and comfortable. She noticed the little things—like when she was in pain before she even said anything, or when she needed repositioning or reassurance. These may seem small, but they made a world of difference. Chelsea also supported me. She recognized how heavy everything felt and took time to explain each update, each medication, and each step of the plan of care. She treated me like a partner, not an outsider watching helplessly. That meant more than she knows. In a hospital environment where nurses are constantly stretched thin, Chelsea never let it show. She carried herself with professionalism, empathy, and a level of compassion that goes far beyond the job description. It is clear that nursing is not just her profession — it is her calling. Chelsea exemplifies everything the DAISY Award stands for: • Compassion • Exceptional clinical care • Human connection • Dedication to patient and family well-being.  For these reasons and more, I wholeheartedly nominate Chelsea for the DAISY Award. She made an extraordinary impact on us, and she deserves to be recognized for the outstanding nurse — and person — she is.
