I feel that Chali's attitude and care helped keep my aunt from leaving AMA.
I took a vacation for what was supposed to be a fun visit with my beloved Auntie in Visalia.

I arrived, and my aunt told me she was weak, had shortness of breath, and had not been feeling well. My aunt does not go to doctors or hospitals. She had not been to a doctor in 50 years, so she declined to go to the ER that night but promised she would let me take her the next morning.

We got in the car the next morning, full of dread, because we figured we would be sitting in the ER for 6 hours waiting to be seen, and we were not sure how my aunt would be treated. She was overall not happy to be going, but she felt so bad that she agreed to go.

In the car to kind of ease our anxiety about going through an ER experience, we looked at each other and said, "We are going to go and get this done, and there will be nice people, get breathing treatment, and come back home".

We got to the ER, and my aunt, who has been independent her entire life, could not walk into the ER, so I got a wheelchair and wheeled her in. We did not have a wait at all in the ER, and every single person in triage, etc. was extremely kind and informative.

We ended up in a room in the ER and my aunt's RN Chali came in and from the first introduction we knew my aunt was in great hands. Chali's personality and obviously incredible nursing skills put my aunt and me at ease.

Chali seemed to really "get" who my aunt is and made my aunt feel comfortable, and even had a few laughs. Chali and her extremely nice and professional student nurse were incredible. My aunt was very clear that she would not agree to be admitted if that was what was recommended. My aunt did need to be admitted, and she agreed.

I feel that Chali's attitude and care helped keep my aunt from leaving AMA. Chali and her student nurse explained what they were doing when they came in to take labs, etc. Chali picked up on my aunt's personality and was humorous and comforting and warm and down to earth and absolutely professional and treated my aunt with dignity and as if she were the most important person in that ER.

If anyone had come in with a cold and hurried or dismissive attitude, my aunt probably would have left AMA. Thank God Chali was her nurse that day, as my aunt ended up having blood clots in her lungs and probably would have died if she had refused to be admitted.
