Avery cared for our 84-year-old father while he was at Spartanburg Regional. She prioritized his comfort and showed concern for our family’s emotional well-being. One of the many things she did, which made a huge difference to my family and me, was to always speak to our dad at eye level. He never had to look up. She was there with her calm reassuring voice making eye contact with him.

Avery was with us when the doctor delivered devastating news with tears in her own eyes. She felt more like a friend than a nurse, and we will never forget the comfort she provided us, especially our dad.

We are incredibly grateful for Avery's care and compassion. One evening after her shift was over, she came back to the room, sat with us beside our father for a while, and listened to dad’s stories.

Avery was always there and made us feel as if our dad was her only patient. However, we know her other patients were receiving the same extraordinary care.
