I will forever be grateful for the support and validation she provided me during a period when I was struggling.
I was put on a medication that was on the newer side. The shot was administered every two weeks in my thigh. The shot itself had an excruciating pain, and my previous doctor didn't believe me when I told her that it was the medication itself, not the needle.
When I started working with my current doctor, this caregiver mainly administered my medication every two weeks, as I felt more comfortable doing it at the hospital. She never tried to convince me to do it by myself at home or made me think I was wasting her time.
She always took the time to pay attention to my condition and validated my feelings about the medication. She even went out of her way to ask me more about the medication and how it feels because she genuinely wanted to learn more about it and my experience to help other patients feel more comfortable with the drug.
Every step along the way, she constantly told me she was proud of me and never made me feel bad for needing to drive down to the main campus every two weeks for a nurse's visit to get a shot. When I was finally ready to start doing my shot on my own, she did everything she could to best support me in whatever way I needed.
I will forever be grateful for the support and validation she provided me during a period when I was struggling. I only hope someone can have a nurse like her on their care team.
