She was integral in ensuring LSU SNA was well represented at the recent Louisiana State Nurses Association conference, which proved to be a daunting task that took hours and hours to organize.
I have been a faculty advisor for LSU SNA for 2.5 years. Being involved in SNA, I have been able to interface with the most exemplary students. Marcela Pedron, who serves as our current Association President as a Junior 2, which is unheard of, is one of the most extraordinary students I have had the pleasure to mentor and work side by side with. Marcela is not only a stellar student, but she makes it her mission to ensure SNA runs like a well-oiled machine. She goes above and beyond to ensure LSU SNA is presented in a positive light to all we come into contact with, both inside and outside the University walls. She keeps the pulse on the progress of all SNA Community volunteer events, which in and of itself is quite a task. Marcela worked tirelessly over the past summer, when LSU was the last thing on many students' minds, to make sure SNA was prepared for the upcoming semester. She was integral in ensuring LSU SNA was well represented at the recent Louisiana State Nurses Association conference, which proved to be a daunting task that took hours and hours to organize. As if this wasn't challenging enough, while at the State conference, Marcela ran and was elected to the State Social Media and Communications position!

With her LSU President's role, she is constantly communicating not only with the advising faculty but also with the Executive Board, Asst. Dean for Student Affairs and SNA General Body. Her level of communication is absolutely at the advanced Leadership level. Unbeknownst to many, there is a great deal of behind-the-scenes organizing that comes with this position. Marcela frequently interfaces with the LSU nursing business office to ensure the process of sending 20 students to outside conferences goes as smoothly as humanly possible. Not one student has been left out! She was also integrally involved in ensuring that both the Shreveport and Baton Rouge LSU sites had elected student representation, were included in all meetings, and could attend outside conferences. With the upstart of the BR campus, Marcela and other members of the Exec. The board traveled to BR to do a formal presentation to the new nursing students about SNA and other student organizations.

There is just not enough space or time in this nomination to outline everything she does, just because she cares about LSU and nursing! Lastly, not only is Marcela involved with SNA, but she is also active in SGA and was a meaningful part of assuring the recent Nightingale Event went off without a hitch for 400 students. Marcela never complains and does all this with grace, respect, and compassion for others without any desire for recognition. Now that's a student worthy of DAISY Recognition.
