Sherwin always showed respect by addressing her by name, speaking slowly and clearly, making eye contact, and projecting toward her ear to enable her to hear him. This meant the world to her.
Sherwin was professional, kind, and attentive to my 92-year-old mother. Sherwin always showed respect by addressing her by name, speaking slowly and clearly, making eye contact, and projecting toward her ear to enable her to hear him. This meant the world to her.
My mother is a retired RN and had many questions and wanted to be involved in her care, and Sherwin was genuinely interested in her viewpoint and her needs, even when it required a great deal of patience. He brought youthful energy to her room, but also was so careful to treat her with dignity, which is often not the norm in healthcare for the elderly.
There are a lot of vulnerable moments for an elderly woman, and he was unfailingly professional. Sherwin interjected some light-hearted moments and even managed to make her laugh, which was quite an accomplishment under the circumstances. We all noticed how he interacted with his colleagues, with similar professionalism, respect, patience, and wit, including with nursing students he was instructing.
I recommend Sherwin for this distinction because he was instrumental in my mother’s care and well-being, both physical and mental, during her hospital stay.
