I would just like to thank Nurse Els for going above and beyond.
Back in 2021, I first met her when I was a frequent visitor to the L&D Department for severe morning sickness. She was the nicest nurse I had encountered. A couple of nurses were not the kindest back then when I would be moaning in pain or asking for water.
Nurse Els empathized with me and made me feel cared for from the moment I was in her care to the moment she wheeled me out of the building.
Thank goodness she was my main nurse for my most recent pregnancy in July of 2023, when I came for weekly antepartum testing. It was so nice to see her again, and she was just as kind and caring as ever.
I hated going to these appointments. I do not like going to the hospital in general. Fortunately, with Nurse Els’ support and care, I ended up looking forward to my weekly testing.
Nurse Els made me feel heard and understood when she asked me the routine questions about my gestational diabetes, and I told her I was struggling with taking proper care of myself. I feared that I would be judged by any medical professional for admitting I was not taking my insulin as prescribed or eating a proper diet as recommended.
Nurse Els did not judge me. Instead, she supported me and told me I could do it. She really made me feel cared for and went above and beyond. She is what a nurse should be.
I would like to thank her from the bottom of my heart for making my pregnancy journey a happier one.
I actually felt sad once I gave birth, knowing that I would not return to the L&D for my weekly appointments and “therapy sessions” with Nurse Els. We had some of the best talks, and it was not awkward in the room like some of my other visits.
The whole L&D crew was amazing during my visit to give birth to my baby girl. I am glad I chose to have my children at Marin General.
Nurse Els, if you see this, just know that you made a difference in my life during a really tough time, and I am forever grateful.
