She truly was the reason we got through those days with clarity and peace. Luda didn’t just care for my mom—she cared about her.
Luda’s care was everything a family hopes for during an incredibly difficult time. My mom was battling terminal cancer, and during her stay at Tacoma General, Luda became more than a nurse—she became our anchor. She was calm, direct, deeply compassionate, and always on point. She took the time to really listen—not just to my mom’s symptoms, but to her story.
Her care wasn’t rushed or routine. It was thoughtful, personal, and precise. What makes Luda even more special is her journey. She’s originally from Ukraine and was a massage therapist for years before finally achieving her dream of becoming a nurse—all while raising two children. Despite everything she’s overcome, her focus was always on my mom. She advocated for her, ensured her discharge was smooth and complete, and brought warmth and even laughter into our days.
Luda made my mom feel like more than just a patient—she made her feel human, seen, and supported. She truly was the reason we got through those days with clarity and peace. Luda didn’t just care for my mom—she cared about her. That’s what inspired me to nominate her. She is the definition of what a DAISY nurse should be.
