My husband and I arrived at Essentia Health-St. Mary's early in the morning on my scheduled induction date. When we got off the elevator on the 4th floor, we approached the reception desk to check in, and at the same time, Isabel approached us from behind the counter. She appeared eager and excited to meet us. She greeted us with a smile, introduced herself, and walked us to our room. I immediately noticed she had the whiteboard in the room filled out for us with all the information correct and positive. The note/plan she had written for the day was to “Have a baby!”

Everything from the accurate information to the uplifting plan, these smallest of gestures immediately made me feel well taken care of, and it was obvious to me that she had reviewed my chart prior to coming that morning. Throughout my stay, Isabel was attentive, well-educated, personable, and kind-hearted. She took impressive care of me, and her support throughout the labor process was very impactful. She reviewed my birth plan and used that information to make educated decisions about my care. She volunteered birthing balls, tension rods, and position ideas to help make me the most comfortable throughout my time in her care. It felt like she was always one step ahead of me or reading my mind. She also kept us well informed and took her time answering any questions we had. She explained things in a way that made sense, and it was obvious she cared about her job as an RN. She was honest and detailed in her responses, and we appreciated that. I can't thank her enough for all her support!
