Aubrey Klimen, RN, responded to a medical incident on campus as a member of our “code emergency response team”. Unaware that she was responding to, by definition, a “trench rescue”. Simultaneously, Carroll Fire & EMS was dispatching a full trench rescue assignment.

Post-incident, several members of the Carroll Fire & EMS notified me how much they appreciated Aubrey’s help.

The letter reads:

I am pleased to offer this letter of recommendation for Registered Nurse Aubrey Klimen, who recently demonstrated exceptional clinical skill, professionalism, and compassion during a critical pre-hospital emergency response. Her assistance to the Carroll County Department of Fire & EMS Paramedic Ambulance was exemplary and deserving of formal recognition.

On July 1, 2025, Nurse Klimen responded to a high-stress, high-intensity 911 call involving a construction worker who had been crushed by a piece of asphalt in a trench. She was requested to assist Paramedic Ambulance 38 in managing the patient’s care under extremely challenging circumstances.

Nurse Klimen’s seamless integration with our EMS team was truly commendable. Throughout the incident, she exhibited outstanding teamwork and maintained composure under pressure. Her clinical contributions during the assessment and treatment of the patient were critical to the patient’s stabilization and played a vital role in the positive outcome of the call.

I strongly recommend Nurse Klimen for recognition for her vital support and exemplary performance during this incident. Her efforts are a testament to the strong collaboration between Carroll Hospital Center and the Carroll County Department of Fire & EMS.”
