Because of George’s leadership, our unit feels safer, more supported, and more cohesive. We know he cares deeply about both our patients and the nurses at the bedside, and he works alongside us every day to make our work environment better.
From the moment he stepped into this role, he has been intentional about truly knowing all staff in the department as people, not just as names on a schedule. He consistently takes time to stand at the desk, sit with us in the break room, and walk the halls with us, asking how we are really doing and listening carefully to our answers.
When we bring up concerns about workflow, patient safety, or simply burnout, he doesn’t brush them aside. He follows up, circles back, and makes sure we know we were heard.
George is the kind of leader who shows his care by being present on the floor. He jumps in to help with heavy loads, difficult families, or heavy assignments, not because he has to, but because he genuinely believes we are a team.
He looks for ways to remove barriers so we can focus on safe, compassionate patient care, advocating for better resources, clarifying processes, and supporting us when we speak up.
Because of George’s leadership, our unit feels safer, more supported, and more cohesive. We know he cares deeply about both our patients and the nurses at the bedside, and he works alongside us every day to make our work environment better.
For his unwavering presence, his intentional listening, and his commitment to helping us do our jobs well, I am honored to nominate George for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award.
