LaRue's impact encourages others around her to be more compassionate and caring to our patients.
LaRue is known to go above and beyond for our patients. Recently, we had a patient with AML who needed daily platelet transfusions to stay alive. This patient had become well known to everyone in the clinic. During Epic go-live, she was the first patient we gave blood products to and was very patient with the new process. Larue would always joke, "You need popcorn for the show." At the end of the first week of go-live, LaRue went out and bought this patient gourmet popcorn for the "show." A couple of weeks later, for this same patient, LaRue continued to go above and beyond.

The patient had realized that she was coming to the end of life care but wished to go to North Carolina to be with her son in her last days. In order for her to make her flight safely, she needed two units of platelets on the day of. LaRue came in at 0530, two hours before our clinic even opens, to give this patient her platelets so she could make her flight on time. She was willing to go above and beyond in this patient's last treatment with us. This is only a couple of examples of LaRue's endless compassion and care that she gives. We are truly lucky to have LaRue as our leader, and patients are lucky to have her as their caregiver, advocate, and friend.

LaRue's impact encourages others around her to be more compassionate and caring to our patients. She shows that going that little extra mile impacts lives and provides a better experience in healthcare.
