Colleagues at our SSM Health Cancer Center on Turville Bay surprised registered nurse Laura Conrad with a DAISY Award for exceptional nursing on December 16. They came together to nominate the oncology nurse for the award, writing about her compassionate care for patients and appreciation for her excellent teamwork.

Laura is a true asset to our nursing group. Her unwavering dedication to oncology and our patients makes her a true example of what the DAISY Award stands for. She is compassionate, knowledgeable, and committed to providing extraordinary care and emotional support to all our patients in Radiation Oncology. Laura greets every patient with a smile and has an incredible way of bringing calmness and comfort to patients facing challenging cancer treatments every day. She remembers little details about each patient, even years after their treatment, when they come back for a follow-up visit, and often goes above and beyond to treat every patient as an individual. Laura, you should be proud of the nurse you are, and we appreciate all you do! You deserve this!

Laura has worked to educate and encourage other team members to pursue additional educational opportunities and certifications. Her calm and caring demeanor helps make patients feel comfortable in an often stressful and anxiety-filled situation.
