The dignity and compassion with which Tali treated him should not be understated.
I would like to recognize Tali for the extraordinary care, compassion, and professionalism she showed my son, embodying all the best qualities in nursing, and she made a difference in our lives at a most critical time. My husband and I will be forever grateful for the care our son received from Tali on the last day of his life.

The previous day, he had suffered a catastrophic brain hemorrhage, and we were given the terrible news that there was nothing to be done and that he had very limited time left. Though he had been diagnosed with brain cancer approximately 6 months prior, his treatments had been going well, and we had no reason to believe we were not going home from the hospital this trip.

By the time Tali became our nurse, we knew his time was short, and our goal was to allow him to pass quickly, peacefully, and painlessly. While we endlessly conveyed our goal to his care team, Tali was instrumental in reinforcing our desires with the doctors. Hunter was under the management of many departments and teams of clinicians, and Tali helped us navigate the process.

Additionally, Tali managed Hunter's care in the PICU with calm competency. We felt confident with Tali as she expertly set up Hunter's multiple medications and fluids. More importantly, what struck us about Tali was how she interacted with our son while he was not conscious. Tali still took the time to speak quietly to him, telling him what she was doing and asking his permission. The dignity and compassion with which Tali treated him should not be understated.

Tali advocated for us to be able to take him to the healing garden so he could feel the sun and wind on his face one final time. It was a priceless memory, and we know he enjoyed it, being such an active and outdoorsy kid.

When he began to pass, Tali managed his care, explained what was happening, and then gave my husband and me space so that we could lie next to him, sing to him, and hold his hands. We are forever grateful to Tali for arranging a peaceful passing for him.

After he died, Tali provided exemplary care not only to our son but to us as grieving parents as well. She even gave us her cell number in case we needed anything. Tali cried with us and made sure we were taken care of

Thank you, Tali, for being there for our son. We are eternally grateful.
