Lori single-handedly gave me a newfound appreciation, love, and respect for the entire nursing profession through the care she provided.
My partner was in the Cardiac ICU a few months ago after he collapsed at work and suffered cardiac arrest. He was only 22. He was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy and was devastated when he received the news.
But Lori reassured him, telling him that his diagnosis did not define his future. I will never forget how she told him, "This is not the end of your story."
I watched him go from terrified and panicked to calm and collected, simply from talking to Lori. She spoke to him as if she had known him her whole life.
As a grieving girlfriend struggling to find the right words to comfort him, Lori took the time to speak with me alone. She helped not just my boyfriend but our entire family.
To this day, whenever I accompany my boyfriend to his cardiology appointments, I think fondly of the care, support, and positive energy Lori gave us. She is a nurse who goes above and beyond her duty of care. She doesn’t just tend to her patients physically but nurtures them emotionally and mentally as well.
