Susan cared for my husband when he was a 1:1. Susan provided every nursing care possible-shaved, clipped nails, lotioned hands and feet. This demonstrated so much kindness and professionalism. She talked with him while we talked as if he were present in the conversation. She gave emotional support to me.

Her focus was on my husband and me the entire time. Why do I feel this is deserving of recognition? After a career in nursing myself, I think these basic nursing skills get forgotten in the technical world. To me, Susan demonstrates "the heart" of nursing that we as nurses should all strive for.
