She is an amazing nurse, and she is always helpful regardless of the situation.
Yesterday, Erin, one of our Diagnostic Radiology nurses, had me cancel an appointment for one of our patients coming in for a quick PICC line removal. This patient is currently in a care facility, and she let us know that she was just going to run over after her shift and do the removal at the care facility, so the patient wouldn't have to go through the whole process of waiting for transportation to get here and then wait for transportation to get back home for such a fast removal appointment.
She has also, for the last month, been helping another one of our dear regular patients change out his dressings once a week until the patient's daughter is healed from a surgery that doesn't allow her to do the dressing changes weekly. She didn't bat an eye when I brought this up to her. She said of course, I can do that for him! She has also gone above and beyond for him with concerns he brought up about a procedure he was having at another hospital. It was about withholding blood-thinning medication, and since he is in the middle of establishing new Cardiology care with Mary Greeley Medical Center Cardiology, he didn't know where to go with his questions and concerns.
She spoke to the hospital about the procedure and walked him through what was being done and where to go with his questions until he had his first appointment with Cardiology. She is an amazing nurse, and she is always helpful regardless of the situation. We are lucky to have her as one of our amazing nurses in our department.
