She was a guiding light through a really long and mentally tough delivery. She is an angel.
I came in at 37 weeks for an induction due to a diagnosis of hypertension and preeclampsia. My induction did not go well. I felt that everything we tried failed: 4 doses of Cytotec with no dilation, IV got infected, I had to have another placement, belly bands wouldn't stay on, Bluetooth monitor did not work, and the Foley Ballon failed and was traumatic and painful for me.
After 24 hours, I felt like a failure. I was mentally and physically exhausted. I did not know how I was going to keep going. In steps Genevieve. She gave me a much-needed break. She got me cleaned up, changed my bed, and gave me time to reset my brain and give some self time to take a break to mentally get ready for my delivery. She showed me dignity and respect. She supported me and made me feel heard. She encouraged me to not give up and keep trying.
She is the most amazing nurse. When it came time for delivery, she guided me through every push, every set, and every break. She was calm and clear every step of the way. When my daughter was born, Genevieve was right there to welcome her into this world. I would not have been able to deliver my daughter without Genevieve. She was a guiding light through a really long and mentally tough delivery. She is an angel. She embodies what every health care worker should strive to be. She is selfless, compassionate, kind, non judgmental and a patient advocate.
Thank you, Gen, for everything you did for us!
