I am truly grateful and honestly overwhelmed to be nominated for the DAISY Award. Knowing that someone took the time to recognize my care and compassion means more to me than words can say. This nomination is not just an honor; it is a reminder of why I chose nursing in the first place, and it fills my heart with deep appreciation.
Being a nurse is more than a job for me; it is a part of who I am. I love being a nurse because it allows me to be there for people during some of the hardest moments of their lives. Whether it’s offering comfort, listening to fears, or simply holding a hand, I believe the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference. Those moments are what keep me going, even on the most challenging days.
I always live by the rule, “Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you.” This principle guides how I care for my patients and how I show up every day. I always ask myself how I would want my own family member to be treated, and I let that guide my actions. With empathy, patience, and respect, I strive to make every patient feel valued and cared for.
I remember my first day and how scared I was because of the language barrier, but I made sure to always try my best to help my patients feel understood and safe through the care I provide. I use compassion, gentle communication, and attentiveness to ensure they know they are not alone. I believe that care goes beyond words, and that genuine kindness can be felt even without speaking the same language.
My patients always come first. Their safety, comfort, and dignity are my top priorities. I do my best to listen, advocate, and provide care that goes beyond medical needs. Being nominated for the DAISY Award reassures me that compassion still matters in healthcare, and it motivates me to continue giving my best every single day.
Thank you for this meaningful recognition. I am truly honored.
With heartfelt gratitude.
