I would like to recognize Heather Bednar, PICU RN, for her exceptional composure, critical thinking, and dedication to her patients and their families. Recently, Heather's patient began to rapidly decompensate. Despite minimal help available at the time, Heather remained calm, focused, and confident. She immediately recognized the severity of the situation, took swift, decisive action to stabilize her patient, and reassured the patient's parents along the way.

Her ability to prioritize interventions and manage a complex situation under pressure demonstrated remarkable skill and professionalism. While the patient ultimately required higher-level care, Heather's quick thinking and composure prevented the situation from becoming more critical. Her actions reflected not only her clinical expertise but also her deep sense of responsibility and compassion for her patients and their families.

Since joining the PICU team, Heather has shown tremendous growth as a nurse. She consistently seeks opportunities to learn, improve, and support her colleagues. She goes out of her way to be a positive and encouraging presence within the hospital. Her strong communication, teamwork, and patient-centered approach make her an invaluable member of our unit. Heather exemplifies what it means to be an extraordinary nurse- provides skilled, compassionate care even in the most challenging moments.
