I am nominating Katie from the SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) department at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Appleton, for the DAISY Award in recognition of the extraordinary care and compassion she showed me during one of the most difficult experiences of my life. From the moment she walked into the room, Katie brought a calm and comforting presence that made me feel safe. She treated me with profound dignity and kindness. Katie never rushed me and ensured I understood every step of the process. Her ability to put me at ease in such a vulnerable moment is something I will never forget.

What made her care even more remarkable was the way she brought light into the room. Her gentle humor, warm smile, and kind-hearted nature created an atmosphere that was reassuring. Katie brought a sense of humanity into a clinical space, turning fear into comfort. She maintained a perfect balance of professionalism and empathy. She respected my boundaries while also offering encouragement and strength. Even in such a dark time, she made space for comfort and connection. Because of her, my experience at the hospital became the beginning of my healing. There are no words that fully capture how much her presence meant to me. Katie was a steady, compassionate guide during one of the hardest times of my life. Katie exemplifies everything the DAISY Award stands for, and I am deeply grateful for her care.
