In such a fragile and emotionally difficult context, you became a source of comfort, care, and hope. Thanks to you, I never felt alone; I felt cared for and accompanied.
Alexis,

I had the privilege of meeting you during my second hospitalization at this hospital, and from the very first day, your presence made a profound difference in my recovery process. You were not only attentive to each of my clinical needs, but you did so with a warmth, empathy, and dedication that truly go beyond the ordinary.

I am from out of town; I came to this city for work reasons and, unfortunately, due to health issues, I was hospitalized twice, far from my home and my family, the second time being the longest and occurring when I was at my most vulnerable. That was when I had the good fortune of meeting you. In such a fragile and emotionally difficult context, you became a source of comfort, care, and hope. Thanks to you, I never felt alone; I felt cared for and accompanied.

In addition to your human warmth, I want to recognize your high level of professionalism. You were always alert to every clinical change, carefully monitoring my symptoms, accurately reporting any variation to the medical team, anticipating needs, and acting in a timely and responsible manner. It is evident that you practice nursing with a deep sense of vocation. You do not simply fulfill a role; you give yourself completely to your patients, with ethics, sensitivity, and excellence.

To me, you represent everything a nursing professional should be. You have that special gift of providing care with the same respect and tenderness one would expect from one’s own family. On more than one occasion, I felt as though you were the answer to my mother’s prayers. My mother, who is also a nurse, prayed to God that someone would protect me and help me feel accompanied, and it was you who appeared with that gentleness, dedication, and strength exactly when I needed it most. You constantly encouraged me, telling me to stay strong, that I was almost through it, and that my daughter and my family were waiting for me. Those moments are priceless, and there are no words sufficient to thank you for them.

You were a light in the middle of a very dark process. You knew that I was here with my young daughter and my parents, who did not even know the city, and you always had the thoughtful gesture of leaving me a candy for when my daughter came to visit. I will also never forget our conversations, in which you always tried to make me laugh. Thank you for those late-night Diet Cokes and for the chips from the candy store, which, though simple, meant so much to me. I sincerely hope you always continue with the same dedication, commitment, humility, and humanity with which you care for each of your patients.

Thank you for always encouraging me, for never making me feel ashamed of needing help, even to get up, and for taking the time to be much more than a nurse; for always seeing me with dignity, respect, and humanity.

Thank you for that night when you took me to the chapel, for giving me the space and time to cry, for accompanying me, and for not letting go of me. Thank you for offering me your friendship and for continuing to check on my health even from a distance. All of this speaks to your professionalism, your dedication, and the great heart you have.

Thanks to you, this experience was not as cold or as painful as it could have been. My family and I will always be deeply grateful for your companionship, your words of encouragement, and your tireless professionalism.

From the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of my family, who are my most precious treasureand the love of my life, my daughter, thank you. This recognition is the least you deserve for everything you give and for the deep impact you have left on my life. You are a living example of what nursing can and should be.

With gratitude, admiration, and deep respect.
