She regularly goes above and beyond to learn extra skills to ensure patients receiving care through the OR have the safest and best experience.
Claire is the definition of a DAISY Nurse. Her kindness and gentle touch towards patients and her staff are among her top qualities. She always puts others before herself, providing exemplary patient care in all situations.
For example, when we have after-hours surgery, Claire is quick to arrive to make sure everything is set up to ensure the best possible outcomes for the patient. She will then meet the patient and family members, always checking to see that everyone has spoken to the doctors and that they feel comfortable and confident in their care. She also asks to have the family member’s phone number so she can provide updates. These are things not required, but Claire understands how stressful this sudden illness during a vacation can be for a patient and their family.
She regularly goes above and beyond to learn extra skills to ensure patients receiving care through the OR have the safest and best experience. For example, she is always more than one step ahead so that all of the instruments and equipment are prepped and ready for surgery. Without her, there would have been a delay in a recent surgery because of shipping issues with the instruments.
Knowing the patient had been waiting a long time and had undergone vigorous testing so their procedure could go as scheduled, when the instruments were still not at the facility, she contacted the rep and the shipping department to find them. Because of her, there was no delay in the patient’s care. Without her, the patient would have had to change their schedule to accommodate a new day, get new clearances, and reprep for the procedure. This is a huge burden on the patient, but thankfully, Claire is exceptional and was able to recognize a critical mistake like this before it reached the patient.
