Given the situation, finding coverage was challenging. However, Christine did not hesitate to step in and cover the shift.
In times of unexpected challenges, having a team member who embodies selflessness, flexibility, and dependability is invaluable. Christine exemplified these qualities when several Central Texas areas were affected by road closures due to flooding from days of rainfall. Unfortunately, one of our house supervisors was unable to reach the facility because their route was impacted by the road closures. Given that the house supervisor role is essential to shift operations, it is imperative that someone is on-site to fulfill the duties at all times. Given the situation, finding coverage was challenging. However, Christine did not hesitate to step in and cover the shift. She arrived promptly and remained until she was relieved, demonstrating unwavering commitment and professionalism. Throughout the shift, Christine maintained a positive attitude, never complaining or expressing frustration. Her selfless act allowed the outgoing supervisor to leave after working all night, ensuring continuity of care and operations. Christine's actions exemplify the core values of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. She created an environment where compassion and teamwork thrived, ensuring that the needs of the team were met during a critical time. Her willingness to go above and beyond, even in challenging circumstances, showcases her dedication to both her colleagues and the organization. We are deeply grateful for Christine's support during this time and are honored to nominate her for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award.

I would like to nominate Christine Visgaitis for the DAISY Award for Nurse Leader. She serves as Float Pool Manager as well as our Pathway/Magnet Coordinator. Her Float Pool staff all sing her praise. I hear them say she’s the best boss! She communicates well, is always approachable, and supportive. Prior to her manager role, she served as a charge nurse on the 5th floor. She brings that bedside experience with her and helps to develop others. She serves as a mentor and personal cheerleader - always encouraging staff to grow professionally and to get involved. As the Magnet + Pathway Coordinator, she helps champions to be leaders and motivates bedside staff to use their voices to be heard. She helps facilitate unit Magnet boards, gathering written stories to prove just how wonderful the care is here at Williamson. She is a cheerleader for nursing collaboration and always looks for ways to celebrate our wins! She helps to spread those wins and celebrate the staff by putting out the nursing newsletter. This is a great way to celebrate others and recognize each other! She always goes above and beyond to make Nurses Week celebrations special. She seeks out feedback and plans each day for staff to enjoy! We appreciate that; Boba tea was the best. She has a way of making staff feel special and valued. She recently helped start Acute Care Shared Governance and serves as a leader. She is always looking for process improvements and actively seeks out nursing input to make improvements. She puts her heart and soul into leading, and it shows because everything she does helps others. Thank you for your commitment to your staff and the care we provide! You’re the best.
