Even when this patient eventually passed away, the parents asked for Nate specifically to help with his postmortem care, because of how much they trusted him, and because of how much Nate meant to the patient.
Nate has been a caregiver at Primary's for a long time, first as a PCT and now as a nurse. Nate always goes above and beyond when caring for patients, even when they are not his. The patients and the families can sense that he has a genuine love for them and always wants to do what is best/safest for the patient. He is never prideful and never proceeds in the face of uncertainty. He always shows up to work with a positive attitude and puts the child first. Nate works incredibly hard to be a good nurse, and I think he was meant to do so. I have had several families comment on how much they trust him and how much they like it when he is their bedside nurse.

One story in particular involved a teenage patient who had been in and out of the hospital for many years. This specific admission, the patient was here for a long time, and on many of his lunch breaks, Nate would go play video games and hang out/chat with this patient. This simple act of kindness and self-sacrifice provided the patient with a much-needed friendship and sense of normalcy. Even when this patient eventually passed away, the parents asked for Nate specifically to help with his postmortem care, because of how much they trusted him, and because of how much Nate meant to the patient. I truly believe Nate would do this for any patient who needed it. That is the kind of nurse and person that he is.
