I felt helpless watching someone I love go through something so painful. Michelle brought me into conversation and into his care.
My boyfriend, L, was admitted to the hospital after we went to the ER at 4 in the morning. We were both exhausted, scared, and had no idea what to expect. Michelle took the time to discuss the care plan in detail, the rationale behind her decisions, and what we can expect while being here. Michelle was not only very thorough, but she was also so kind. She took the time to listen to L's concerns and made a point to ask if I had any questions as well.

Goofy story, but L was on a lot of pain meds, and it was causing stomach issues. Obviously, this could be an uncomfortable conversation to have, but she handled the conversation in such a transparent and non-judgmental way that it felt like we were chatting with a friend. Her approach to problem-solving and communication made it easier to bring up other concerns that I was having, like him telling me he was having chest pain or noticing his oxygen would dip when he fell asleep on oxycodone. She listened to all of it, and I am so thankful to have had her as our nurse.
