I have had four lengthy stays in the past 2 1/2 years at Mass General Hospital, three on Ellison 8, dealing with heart failure, LVAD, and heart transplant. A rollercoaster ride for sure. There were so many amazing staff members on Ellison 8.

I have had the pleasure of having Jacqui Holloway as my nurse for all three of my stays on Ellison 8, and she definitely stood out to me as a perfect DAISY Nurse.  She is professional, compassionate, and very caring. Jacqui always brightened my day with her friendly, warm smile and personality. She went out of her way so many times, helping me physically and emotionally. She took extra time just to talk and listen, and always seemed to know when I needed that. At times, she took me off the floor to the healing garden and outside for a bit of sunshine and fresh air. Jacqui always made me smile and brightened my days and nights.

She would stop in to say " Hello" after her shift many times. I always looked forward to her quick visits, often with Sabrina, Aspen, and Jess, that ended up being longer than intended, laughing, joking, and sharing stories. Those memories I will never forget! Jacqui was always so helpful and friendly to my wife and family during this difficult time. When the moments seemed to be the scariest Jacqui always seemed to be present helping us with our questions and reassure us that all was well.

Jacqui, along with the wonderful staff on Ellison 8, saw me at my worst when I didn't even have the strength to sit on the side of the bed, slowly gaining strength with my LVAD, discharged to rehab, then back for desensitization, IVIG treatments, then back to receive my amazing gift of 2nd chance at life with my new heart. Jacqui was an Angel on earth for me. She is an amazing nurse and person. I am sure she has positively touched so many lives. I am blessed she touched mine in such an amazing way!
