Dawne often serves as a charge nurse on our floor. As a new grad nurse and now a new nurse off of orientation, I am inspired by her compassion and her care for her patients. On one of the nights, a patient was desating, and Dawne stood by the patient, commanding the room and making sure that the patient had everything she needed. From making sure the ICU team was aware of what was happening to ensuring all the other patients were taken care of and safe, everything was done flawlessly.

The patient she was working on received the care she needed and was sent to the ICU for intubation. If it wasn't for Dawne's prompt advocacy and quick thinking, the patient may have had a different outcome. She helped her peers and continued serving as a charge nurse while working with the patient mentioned earlier. This is one of the many encounters I have seen Dawne work through. She is a nurse extraordinaire. She deserves this award. Her years of service and selfless work are a testament to her greatness as a nurse.
