hen Carly walks in the room during an emergency, the room fills with relief when they see she is there, as they know everything will be okay.
Carly is a CCU nurse, but I know her best in the RRT RN role. Anytime I see that she is rapid for the day, I know we (the entire hospital) are in good hands. I see her rounding on the units, talking with the teammates, and really taking the time to hear what is going on with the patients.
She is a rockstar when it comes to educating nurses; she answers their questions and explains things in a non-judgmental and clear way. She knows that, in order for the nurses to feel comfortable with her and ask her questions, they have to trust her and know her. When Carly walks in the room during an emergency, the room fills with relief when they see she is there, as they know everything will be okay.
She can quickly ascertain the situation and is decisive in her decisions and interventions. She always talks to the patients and is able to calm and reassure them. After coding, Carly always completes a debrief with the team and reviews opportunities for improvement and what went well. She uses this as an opportunity to teach and always approaches it in a fashion that makes the team feel supported, not criticized.
Carly is a great leader and role model for the nurses and is always poised, professional, respectful, compassionate, and open.
