I am a disabled veteran who had the opportunity to be given a kind, knowledgeable, competent, and caring nurse. Angela exhibited a compassionate manner from the start of our patient/nurse relationship, maintained a professional demeanor at all times, yet personal attention to me as a patient. Nurse Ferrer sensed my nervousness from the beginning of treatment and immediately informed me that she would be with me during the duration of my weekly treatment. I made her aware that I was the primary caregiver of my veteran husband, and she fit me in the treatment schedule to the best of her ability. She would also contact me via telephone later in the day or the following day after the treatment schedule to the best of her ability. She always reminded me to contact the clinic or the emergency room if there were any concerns, no matter how minute.

I felt so much relief when she was able to answer so many more of my questions regarding my diagnosis and treatment plan. Her warmth, kindness, and genuine concern were given at each weekly visit. I had the opportunity on several instances to witness Nurse Ferrer's loving and caring personality interact with other patients in the waiting area to be seen. Visualize Nurse Ferrer entering the waiting area and greeting patients by their name and thanking them for coming to their appointments. That is just a refreshing and caring greeting for any person to openly receive. It is heartfelt because not only have I witnessed it for others to see and hear, I personally have experienced this greeting at all of my scheduled visits.

As a caregiver for my veteran husband, it touches my heart and reminds me of the importance of showing care, love, and concern to other people who are facing medical challenges and health issues. It touches my heart deeply that I have been given a nurse who has taken exceptional care of me with such gentleness and love. Nurse Ferrer truly exemplifies the characteristics and qualifications of being a DAISY Nurse. I am thankful and grateful for her dedication and attention to detail. I strongly feel that she warrants that recognition because she epitomizes the attributes of a DAISY Nurse.
