She was surely an angel in disguise.
My father-in-law was admitted to the ICU after being diagnosed with non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. Of course, as a family, we were devastated and trying to understand. We decided to move forward with hospice care.
All the nurses were super nice and very caring, but Hannah went above and beyond. Friday evening, she came in and said she wanted to take some extra time to clean him up from the fall he had. She took time to clean his wounds and allowed me to help by holding his legs up while she attended to him so gently. She taught us how we could care for him at home. She worked gently to remove the blood that had dried to the skin on his toes.
She then asked him if he would like to be shaved. He said yes with a smile. She gently took her time to remove his beard and mustache. She then gently washed his hair and removed the buildup with a comb. He was so happy when she finished and thanked her over and over. She was surely an angel in disguise.
Thank you, Hannah, for taking extra time with my father-in-law and being so very gentle with him. This meant so much to all of us. Continue to be an amazing nurse. We can tell you love your career and for caring for those in need and their families.
This is Hannah's 2nd DAISY Award!
