Chantell is the embodiment of what the DAISY Award represents: compassionate care, clinical excellence, and a commitment to going above and beyond for patients who are most vulnerable.
I would like to nominate Chantell for the DAISY Award in recognition of the extraordinary care and compassion they demonstrated while caring for a non-verbal, developmentally delayed patient. From the moment they began caring for the patient, it was clear they were committed to not just meeting physical needs but also connecting on a human level. Despite the communication challenges, Chantell showed unwavering patience and empathy. They took time to understand the patient’s needs through observation and gentle interaction, never rushing through tasks or showing frustration.
One particular moment stood out: Chantell began gently pushing the patient around the room in their wheelchair — not because it was required, but because it brought the patient comfort and joy. It was a simple, selfless act that made a world of difference. Chantell spoke calmly, offered reassurance, and treated the patient with dignity and respect at every turn. Medication administration, which could easily have been a difficult process, was handled with professionalism and remarkable care. Chantell remained calm and centered, taking time to ensure the patient was comfortable and safe throughout. Chantell is the embodiment of what the DAISY Award represents: compassionate care, clinical excellence, and a commitment to going above and beyond for patients who are most vulnerable. Their actions made a lasting impact not only on the patient but also on everyone who witnessed their dedication.
