It is rare to have a nurse who is both caring and understanding, seeing the events of a patient's personal life as a much-needed opportunity to provide care.
My father was admitted to Barberton Summa. The next day, Miranda was assigned to his care. Not only was she professional and sweet and kind to him, but she was also very empathetic to my family's needs.
My mom has severe dementia that was made worse by a stroke and seizures. She also has sundowners. My father is her "person," and she was struggling so badly without him. Our family was fearful she may worsen her already fragile condition with my father's long absence. I talked to Miranda to let her know of our unusual circumstance.
While we wished to get Dad the care he needed, we also needed to get him home. Miranda could not make that magically happen, but she was able to reach out and advocate for us. By doing so, my dad's MRI was read quickly, determining he was ok for release. Miranda spoke with the neurologist and had him released by 6:30 p.m., just after the MRI at 4 p.m.
To us, this level of care was so incredibly needed, as spending another night would have caused much distress to our entire family with my mother's condition. It is rare to have a nurse who is both caring and understanding, seeing the events of a patient's personal life as a much-needed opportunity to provide care. Summa is blessed to have a nurse like Miranda in its employment.
Miranda is not only a smart and skilled nurse who provides good patient care, but also empathizes, listens, and advocates for her patients.
Thank you, Miranda, for making a huge difference. You are clearly someone who cares, and you are more than appreciated. You cared for not just my father, but my whole family.
