I'm a little late in admitting this award, but I wanted to recognize Caitlin Bryson, RN, on CVTU. Every time I walk past a sign about the DAISY Award, I think about Caitlin. My father came in through the ER with a retroperitoneal bleed and was then admitted to the CVTU. Caitlin was my father's assigned nurse.

Upon admission, my father collapsed and became unresponsive. Caitlin and her team called a rapid response. I sat in a corner and watched the team do an amazing job of caring for my father. Caitlin stayed calm during this time. She was able to give clear communication to the team about my father's health and his response prior to the episode. The team was able to get my father back. My mother, and two sisters, and I stayed at the bedside during the night. Caitlin was the sweetest nurse! She brought in blankets and pillows to help us try to get some sleep. I felt like my father was her only patient because she was so attentive to my father and our needs. (I know she was juggling 3-4 other patients, but she made us a priority). She was great to update us on my father's lab results and any changes to his care. I was so impressed as she did her assessment of my father. She was so thorough. I later learned that Caitlin was a relatively new nurse. I had no idea! She was so competent in the care she provided. Caitlin truly lives up to the Intermountain standard of giving the best care possible. She treated us like family. She's a wonderful addition to the Intermountain healthcare team!
