Thank you for your care, Lena. You gave me the confidence that I can beat this disease.
Lena is the definition of a professional, caring, and extremely empathetic nurse. They say nurses are our angels on earth, and Lena is by far one of them. I was treated for a chronic disease I am frankly embarrassed about, and Lena immediately showed empathy, care, and reassurance. Not only did she go above and beyond clinically to care for me during my stay to make sure I was getting the proper medications by advocating for me, but she also showed tremendous empathy, sharing stories that reassured me I could battle my disease, and that is the definition of a DAISY Nurse. When I became absolutely overwhelmed in finding my aftercare treatment, Lena again went above and beyond her clinical duties to suggest to great facilities to attend for treatment.
This is what a DAISY Nurse is all about. Someone who doesn’t just practice their clinical duties, but connects with their patients, showing extreme empathy and care, going out of their way to help the patient beyond their given duties. After the shift ended, she came to my room and offered me further advice and information about the aftercare facility I would be attending, providing a true empathetic “you can do this” send-off. That is the definition of a DAISY Nurse by all standards. She 100% helped restore my confidence and my faith that I can beat my disease through her guidance. She is a guiding light of Holy Spirit, and honestly, without her care, I am not sure I would be on such a positive path to recovery.
I have been truly blessed to receive her care. And this is why I would like to nominate Lena for a DAISY Award.
