Lt Domoe always takes time and listens to her patients' concerns and symptoms.
Lt Courtney Domoe is a Women’s Health clinic RN who always takes great pride in caring for her patients. She recently worked a shift as the triage nurse and expeditiously triaged her patients, including one who received lifesaving treatment. She efficiently triaged multiple patients today, but I want to highlight three.
The first patient she spoke to during the shift, she called and triaged, and ultimately, because of her symptoms, Lt. Domoe directed her to go to the ER for evaluation. The patient presented to the ER, and after evaluation, it was found that she had an ectopic pregnancy that required emergency surgery.
Another patient during this shift was 16 weeks pregnant and called with concerns of leaking fluid. It turned out that the patient was transferred to the local hospital because she was leaking amniotic fluid after an amniocentesis. Another patient who was triaged called with concerns about leaking fluid and was directed to go to Labor and Delivery. That day, she ended up delivering a healthy baby.
Additionally, Lt. Domoe went above and beyond in assisting one of the OB providers in identifying an abnormal NST. The patient was very sick, and with Lt. Domoe‘s quick action, the baby was found to have hydrops and heart failure. Since this was identified early, the baby was treated and is now doing well, but if not identified, it would have led to fetal demise.
Lt Domoe always takes time and listens to her patients' concerns and symptoms. Sometimes medical professionals think they know what’s going on and just instruct patients based on common symptoms. However, Lt Domoe always listens, asks questions, and really makes the patients feel safe and heard. This is what makes the difference in patient care, and this leads to better outcomes for our patients.
Lt. Domoe is an amazing nurse who always strives for excellence in patient care. Thanks to Lt Domoe, our OB patients had great outcomes because they were triaged appropriately.
