I had a very rare cancer diagnosed in February and had surgery in May. I was recovering on the 5th floor at DMH. All of the care I received during my stay was incredible. I had 2 RNs who went above and beyond during my stay, and they made a big difference in my recovery. Getting diagnosed with cancer after having surgery was a very scary time for me.

Emotionally, it was a lot. I had put off my brain surgery due to an acute illness my husband was dealing with until my issue became an emergency. The cancer diagnosis, followed by the surgery, was almost too much. Peyton was a calming reassuring presence during an extremely frightening time. Pre-surgery I had to take so many antibiotics in a short amount of time and ended up with horrible non-stop nausea. Peyton took action, notifying the physician and communicating how bad I was. She got a different medication ordered for me that immediately stopped the nausea. I will be forever grateful to her for the care and concern she had for me.
