Korina was the primary voice who talked me through the difficult process, letting my loved one pass peacefully and (almost) painlessly from this world.
We met several wonderful nurses during my wife’s last two weeks in her battle with cancer. All of them made a positive difference in our lives at a very difficult time, but Korina was truly in a category of her own. Her care, competence, and commitment enabled us to give our dear one a peaceful farewell.
I feared Korina would not think of us fondly, as she first met us on a Sunday night and after hours. She not only responded promptly but also made an additional trip to bring us extra supplies. Over the next week, she educated us on what we might expect and how we could prepare to respond. She met a steady stream of family members, and she always included them in her instructions and invited their questions. She offered many practical tips on how to make my wife comfortable without injuring her or adding to her pain.
She ensured we had adequate medications, equipment , and access to further help, if needed. She encouraged me as the primary caregiver, telling me I was doing a good job. She boosted my confidence and sagging morale, making me feel that I could do this final service to the sweet companion of the last four decades. It meant the world to me to be by her side “in sickness “ and “till death do us part,” just as I’d promised her.
Korina was the primary voice who talked me through the difficult process, letting my loved one pass peacefully and (almost) painlessly from this world. Her skill and compassion made it possible, and for her help, I will always be grateful.
