I had surgery to repair a ruptured distal bicep tendon in my left arm. Following the surgery, I was having a difficult time shaking the fog of the anesthesia and was quite ill. Only about an hour in surgery, but nearly five hours in recovery. I guess I'm just a sissy. The one thing that sticks in my mind was the lovely lady who took fabulous care of me in the recovery room.

While I know she must have told me a dozen times that she was from the SE Texas area, I never caught her name. Brain fog, as I know she told me numerous times. The level of care, concern, and compassion that you showed me was exceptional. For that, I thank you.  In life, I have learned that people cross our paths for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. In this particular instance, a reason. While most serve their reason and move forward, some of these individuals leave a lasting impression and memories through their actions, deeds, and words.

While you had many patients to care for, you always found time to check on the sissy and make sure he would be alright. Not sure, but maybe you were just hoping I would man up and get out of your hair. But this is my story. Your dedication and compassion for your patients set you apart from others in your field. I can only hope that your superiors recognize you for your work ethic, dedication, and level of care that you put forth.

You, my dear, are a person who left a lasting impression on my life. For these actions, again, I say thank you.
